・・ COLLATERAL DESIGN WORK ・・
I was challenged to develop a brand identity for an alcoholic cider that reflects craftsmanship, inclusivity, and a connection to the natural world. I chose to create Forager, a cider brand inspired by the act of foraging and the relationship between people, animals, and the outdoors. The name Forager represents exploration, curiosity, and intentional gathering; values that align with both the product and its audience.
To avoid the gendered tropes common in outdoor and alcohol branding, the visual identity was designed to be intentionally gender-neutral. Hand-drawn illustrations of animals and natural elements were used to create warmth and approachability while reinforcing the brand’s connection to nature. These illustrations emphasize authenticity and care, reflecting the small-batch, crafted quality of the cider rather than mass-produced aesthetics. The color palette and typography were kept restrained to allow the illustrations to take focus and to maintain a calm, grounded tone. Each design decision was made to balance visual storytelling with clarity and usability, ensuring the brand feels accessible both on the shelf and in outdoor settings. The use of organic line work contrasts with the structured layout, mirroring the balance between wild environments and thoughtful craftsmanship.
The final design clearly communicates Forager’s identity as an inclusive, outdoors-focused cider brand. By avoiding visual clichés, the brand establishes a distinctive and thoughtful presence. The result is a cohesive system that feels natural, authentic, and welcoming to a broad audience.
